* Had to google V&A *
Google says art and design.
We're in.

Yeah, you should do *that*. Maybe they'll have one of Mr.Fish's suits on display.
V&A is a curious mix. has a lot of historical stuff. including the bowl which inspired russell hoban's "bat tattoo". it has some design stuff, fashion and the like. but it also depends what the special exhibits are, i've seen a couple of particular pieces there that were very much worth seeing - but not sure what the actual special exhibitions are at the moment.
The V&A sounds like a great idea.

I've just arrived at my brother's place in Orpington and am contemplating what to do tomorrow. I suspect I'll head into town quite early. First thoughts are tending towards the Tate Britain and Fiona Banner's aircraft, but if someone feels like meeting up and exploring somewhere else, count me in.

best,
Chris H
chris don't know when striv gets in, she said the morning. i forwarded you her number and she has yours.

i don't think kradlum was planning to make the talk, because of the whole strike thing. not sure how that'll affect you getting around in general?

DUDE, ORPINGTON. I am so local to there! It's the station I use and everything! Exclamation points! We must coordinate!

I am in class from goddamn 10 to 1 tomoz. Will either be at leisure or heading straight back to the far side of Orpington right after. I'll have my iPad w/ me, so will check in here.

The tube strike is a major spanner in the works. It's bus only or walk in town. FFS, I'll be late for my first class.

Remote: Pls fwd my digits to Mr Orpington here if you get a mo, thx thx.
i guess Operation: Zero Spook Recognition is go! first london event is tonight. and as chris confirms the first non-london WGB agents arrive today.

i'll be heading down myself tomorrow. not sure how much i'll be online through the week. i'll have my EEE with me, and i think hotel has wifi (though that can be hit and miss from experience).

Tate Britain - Jets - its been suggested a few times through the discussion, not sure how much time everyone has overall the weekend, but i'd suggest it as something that we might want to do Friday afternoon when there is a group about with some time to spend on things like that. or perhaps Saturday post-signing?

V&A - current suggestion for Saturday pre-FP is V&A. who is up for that? what kind of time do folk want to make it? signing is at 1, so should be enough time do that.
i'm sure it works, and if you've got experience you know its fine. but i asked them questions in my email about what details they needed for the reservation and got no response - so hoping that 1st name and email address is enough to get me in, since thats all they've got. though i've printed the two emails i have from them as a starting point.

I like V & A, too. It's big, but you can cherry-pick.

It occurred to me that we could make ourselves loathsome to Wigbers worldwide by all appearing on a public webcam at an agreed time. Perhaps one of the Covent Garden ones?

so where is covent garden compared to forbidden planet? reasonably close? whats the best way of doing it? after the signing? how does that work timing wise?

About half a mile, 8 min walking. I would say after the signing cause that is when we are the most numerous. We should give a time though (maybe 3pm) so people have a chance to watch (web cam address would be helpful too).
taxi arrives in next 10 minutes, listening to bill on the radio talking about viruses, they've lost their expert, but he is doing a good job of taking it on.

train in about 2 hours to london. should get in about 2pm this afternoon. get sorted for this evening.

It's a 5 min walk.

Belushi's overlooks the corner of the Apple Store so it's probably the most crowded spot of a very crowded street! However the other one isn't so handy - tiny street that's just as crowded but not pedestrianised either. So if we go into the Apple Store and use one of their computers for some videoSkyping we can start with some street theatre outside :P
