I can see this thread growing humongous in a couple days.

It will, especially if people start posting in reaction to tweets.

If someone has a PHP server on which the bot could run, that would help.

For now, I launch it manually.
I could automate it, but I like to switch my laptop off at night...
I wonder if the bot should post in a slightly different color just so people will know which posts are bot-generated and which are board generated?

Also, how much power does the PHP script take? I haven't shut off my computer in years (or even let it sleep). Although I do shut it down once in a blue moon to reboot into Windows or something. Hmmmm...
You might want to make it wait longer between updates than ten minutes, so that you get more tweets in a single message and don't "waste" quite so much postage.

Also, who is Fimb? A Wigber I'm not following? (Say it isn't so! [I did miss httf for a while there, though.])

Even as a "secure twitterer" it'd be cool to have the option to kick some stuff on to the board, like that TEDTalk thing I just posted. Perhaps a future version could follow secure tweets but only pass on #wg-tagged items?

BTW, it is pretty damn cool that you got this to work at all. I'm impressed as hell! Smile
ellouis
Looks like I finally fixed the bot. We'll know for sure in 30 minutes.

@ellouis Cool! although now there's that pressure to be relevant again Wink

@bittersweetdb When we were kids we used to clothespin a playing card to our bike wheels to sound like helicopters.

LillyLyle
@bittersweetdb It would be better to have flashing lights or something on the cars then, instead of noisemakers

bittersweetdb
@LillyLyle I think humans react more quickly to sound than to visual stimulus. Hence fire alarms are audible. Also sound is 360°, sight not.

@LillyLyle All they need is a whoosh or something we can learn to identify as "car: danger;" doesn't need to be v loud or aggravating.
